Fast progress with FLEX-STEPTM
New mechanical therapy stairs allow individual training With the new therapy stairs, the training will for the patients be much more efficient. Practical experience with the FLEX-STEPTM has shown that the adjustable stairs offer many advantages over the conventional stair walking therapy.
Mares Woltering, head of the department of Ergo therapy at the Rehabilitation Clinic Marie Frieden in Telgte states: "Especially patients with anxieties, or patients with limited mobility will benefit from the individual gradually stair climbing retraining program, and a faster progress may be expected."
With the touch of one button the steps can be adjusted as needed, to a height between 2 and 20 cm. A handrail assists the patient in keeping his balance.
The height of the steps can be adjusted any time during the training. This is an advantage especially for patients who have difficulties walking down the stairs. An additional advantage is that special therapies can take place in a quiet surrounding, instead of on the busy stairway of a hospital.
With the FLEX-STEPTM one can train specific muscles to regain their strength. Dr. Wolfgang Mailahn, specialist for orthopaedics', sports medicine and rehabilitation in Telgte states: "Many types of patients can benefit from such a treatment, this includes patients with cerebrovascular diseases, patients recovering from fractures or implants of artificial joints."
The FLEX-STEPTM is developed in Denmark, where it is being utilized for standard and special therapy. It is currently being tested at the Department of Ergo therapy in Telgte and at the Department of physiotherapy in the Dörenberg Clinic in Bad Iburg. Ammann & Rottkord GmbH is distributing the FLEX-STEPTM system in Germany and will present it at the Bau 2007 in Munich (15 - 20 January 2007).
